[He's been lucky enough to manage some times alone to train, not quite willing to be swinging the Jewel around with tensions so high. But this is the first time he's really run into someone else in the sports area doing the exact same thing.
He's without his jacket, the faint lines of an intricate scar vidible on one shoulder as he adjusts his grip on the hilt of his own weapon, keeping his distance until the other man has taken a moment of rest.]
Here I was starting to think no one else here was a swordsman. [He cocks his head, one hand hooked against his hip.]
[ ookurikara pauses in his movements, just long enough to give guy a side glance. the sword is... strange, and part of him wonders if he shouldn't correct the first comment. there are still three swords here, after all. after the announcement, though, he's feeling even less talkative than usual, so his only response is to shake his head and get back to it. ]
[BOY HOWDY MAKING FURNITURE ALL DAY SURE WAS FRUSTRATING WHEN YOU GOT RAINED ON THE WHOLE TIME...... Guy's hair is still kind of damp and clinging to the back of his head as he makes his way out onto the fields. Weeding, at least, was incredibly easy - even relaxing, in a way. It would give him a chance to dry off and collect his thoughts.
...Ah, and then he spots his sparring partner from last week. He'll wave him down enough to get his attention, hollering if he needs to.]
Oi. You want to lend me a hand? The soil should be easy to work with, now that we've had plenty of rain. We can get some stuff cleared for Shadows.
[No beating around the bush - if they can talk, they can work, and Guy's been around flowers enough to know what basic weeds look like. He's careful to keep the uprooted plants far away from the cleared ground, working the soil enough to make sure the plant doesn't snap from the efforts.]
[ he's just going to kneel and get right to work, careful not to disturb the flowers or other plants while uprooting weeds and tossing them into a basket. ]
The citadel is always expanding, so the garden has to be grown to accommodate us all. We have about... forty to fifty right now, so we need more to make sure everyone has enough food.
[ he pauses, wiping his forehead with the back of his arm. it's hot? he maybe smears a bit of dirt on his face? for better or worse, he is not at all concerned by this as he immediately reaches for the next weed. ]
They don't fight. But they give us our missions, and assign us the chores. And they're the one who does the summonings, so none of us would even be there if not for them.
[Hm. That's... kind of new, but maybe not as much as he thought. He'll give a sheepish sort of bow of the head, as polite as possible before returning to a more stubborn plant in front of him.]
My apologies for the misunderstanding, then.
To be able to summon that many spirits must take a lot of personal skill, I'd imagine. Does it happen very often?
[After angrily hitting some things elsewhere a certain blond just straight up vanishes, but if Kara's out in the forest he might see Guy pacing slowly like an irritated cat, posture tense, occasionally turning to throw his fist against a nearby tree with a harsh snap, the knuckles of his hand red. His sword's still at his side, but apparently this little outburst isn't worth it.
[ kara is probably out here trying to perform an investigation of his own. of course there is nothing for him to find, he wasn't on the mini investigations, but that doesn't mean he can't still try.
he finds guy right as he's punching another tree, and watches him silently for a moment. considers leaving him to his anger, because that isn't kara's problem and he doesn't want to make it so.
problem is, he knows all too well what guy must be feeling, so he stays, and after another moment - ]
Sparring would be more useful than punching trees.
[ so he'll follow. kara does wonder, for a moment, why guy seems to be so angry - but maybe he knew yu, from before. it's true that kara would be as upset, should something happen to lili. ]
[They won't have to walk far, just out of the reach of the trees. Guy settles to a stop, backing up to give the two of them room and taking a long, formal bow towards Kara. Only then does he pull out his sword, the sheath held freely in his opposite hand.
Whenever he senses Kara is ready, he'll dart forward, the same quick footing that he'd shown in their first spar. It's combat that focuses on speed and evasion over power and control, to hit and run. But it doesn't keep him from putting plenty of force into his first blow.]
[ by contrast, ookurikara relies on strength and defense in lieu of speed - he meets the blow head on, with both sheath and sword held before him like a shield. he holds his ground, and presses forward, angling to throw the blade to the side and move into a sweeping horizontal slash at guy’s chest. ]
[To fight against someone else who uses the sheath just as much as the sword itself is a rare treat, even with how different their tactics are. Guy allows his blade to be pulled to the side while his own sheath is raised as a buffer, the momentum of the motion giving him enough time to shift his weight back with a quick step, meet ing Kara's sword before it can his flesh. The sound of metal against metal is vibrant, echoing past the trees.
He'll try to sense which direction Kara might be pushing, shifting his weight to attempt a feignt to one side with a quicker blow.]
WEEK ZERO - FRIDAY

I'm not interrupting you, am I?

WEEK ONE - WEDNESDAY
...Ah, and then he spots his sparring partner from last week. He'll wave him down enough to get his attention, hollering if he needs to.]
Oi. You want to lend me a hand? The soil should be easy to work with, now that we've had plenty of rain. We can get some stuff cleared for Shadows.

The task... It's just weeding, right? I do that a lot at home. Shouldn't be too hard.
[ that's a yes ]
no subject
I won't take you for too long, I promise. I just figure it will go faster with two sets of hands.

[ he casts a glance over the gardens. ]
This garden's smaller, too.

How big was the garden you were used to before?
no subject
A little.

I see. So you're more of a self-sustaining location, rather than relying completely on an outside source for supplies.
Is everyone at that citadel a swordsman like you, or is there more variety in roles?

[He stands up for a moment to brush excess dirt off his legs.]
What position does your master hold, then? Are they a teacher of sorts, or a commander?

[That's... a fancy term to use for what sounds like a bunch of soldiers in some sort of autonomous base.]
Do you just mean an invitation for the work in general, or am I misunderstanding?
no subject
I did say I'm not human.
no subject
[So, if it's not a summoning of the paperwork and political sort, then--]
You're... a sentience of some kind, then. A spirit, maybe?

Every few weeks or so, maybe? At least once a month. I don't really keep track of them all, except to know how much we need to cook.
WEEK ONE - FRIDAY
Everything's fine.]

His fist tightens at his side, posture straightening up with a careful, deliberate force.]
Yeah, well. Wasn't in the mood to hunt someone down when we had four other bodies on the ground.
[As neutral as he keeps his voice, he's already been in a fight today, and the fatigue brings out the cold edge in his anger.]
Was that a request?
no subject
[ just in case guy missed that part. ]
It's more of an offer. If you don't want it, I'll leave.

[They're all alive. Yu isn't.
A beat. He'll sigh, something resigned in how he carefully nods.]
Probably would be a better use of my time, anyway... I appreciate it.
Come on. Let's find somewhere with a little more space.
