I don't know about us. But I wonder about our hosts.
It came up while talking about them, when I asked about what they remembered about previous journeys. That they have changed before based on what is needed.
Nah, just about Jack themselves. Sorry, I should have been more clear.
I didn't think anything of it right away, with how suddenly everything happened. Now that our situation is a little more complicated, I wouldn't be surprised if it extended to more than just that one instance.
Might be a long shot, but maybe it might be the reason we can't exactly see what any of them look like. Jack was a bus because they needed to be a bus. Maybe what our hosts are supposed to be hasn't been firmly decided yet. Like a constant, whose identity morphs with the environment.
[He'll shrug, though, glancing at his water bottle in thought.]
Not that we can really confirm anything right now. But it might be something to look into later.
Yeah. Jack mentioned that they'd taken many other forms before, both physically and in the sense of a reincarnation, but that most forms they ever had were created with the purpose of helping. "I am whoever and whatever is needed", is how they put it. Part of it was confirmed to be based on circumstance, but they said it was complicated to explain.
[there was a lot that poor vehicle couldn't explain, but i mean, communicating via magic alphabet board must really suck]
Considering that Jack said they would be nearby even after they left, I'd be curious on the Directors' ties to them, as well as what they know about that weird character that was running around before. Either way... I'm sure there's only so much they'll be able to say.
Only so much guesswork we can do for that. But if there's something bigger at play, then I'm sure it's going to show itself tomorrow. All we can do is pay attention and plan from there, right?
As long as that anger of yours is going to the right place, I won't argue with what you're feeling. I figure you're smart enough to be careful.
Just don't lose yourself too much to whatever this place is pulling. You've got a good fire to you, one that I think a lot of people will need to see. It'd be a shame to see it fizzle over manipulations than to actually burn for something more worthwhile.
[He'll nod, apparently satisfied with that answer.]
No lasting good comes from anyone throwing away their life. If you want change, then you fight. You show just how much your life is worth keeping, and how much you matter to the people around you, by doing everything you can to stay alive.
[His own smile quirks up easily, reaching his eyes in a warm, almost paternal way. But he shakes it off with a look over his shoulder at the coffee machine, then back at Akira's dwindling water bottle.]
Anyway, I know you're still pretty devastated about not being able to make coffee for yourself, but hopefully what they have isn't too much of a deal breaker for you.
Maybe Black Shadows will let us do something for them in exchange for some better equipment.
It must be something I'm not familiar with. I didn't even learn about coffee until the temple, and we only had it available a couple times out of things like cafes or shops. I never got to make it myself.
If I can figure out how the transfer system works for the water without mixing up the heating elements, then maybe I can diagram a proper substitute for a fonic-based situation!
[Just five minutes!!!! He'll put it back together!!!!!!!!]

...
Did they mention reincarnation?

No? Reincarnation for who? Us?

[huh. . .]
. . . we do know this world is easily affected by outside forces. That's why so many things changed when we were brought in.

That's not a bad theory. This world is sort of. . . [waggles a hand back and forth] Not amorphous, but it's flexible and adaptive too, isn't it?
[or so he has come to understand]
I plan on asking them more about the world when I have the chance. I want to understand more about how it works.
About how we've affected it just by being here.

If they're only allowed to say so much, then. . .
I wonder what's restraining them? If something is?

...
[bops him again with his water bottle]
You seem like you've calmed down a little.
no subject
Have I? [hn] I guess this entire conversation distracted me a bit.

[A bit of a cheeky grin, before it softens.]

I haven't burned out yet. No summer camp of hell and horrors is going to extinguish that flame now.
[and the way he says that? is extremely determined]

[smash cut to evan getting aquainted with a Rock in about 48 hours]
That means keeping yourself alive, too.
no subject
I know.
[he says as he breathes out a sharp exhale]
I have someone I need to return home to at all costs. Pointless sacrifices are. . . [and here, he makes a face] They're stupid, anyway.
So I don't intend on doing anything that would risk my life unnecessarily.

I agree.
[despite Akira's recklessness, he has never treated his life so flippantly]
And I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Actually, there's a coffee maker in the kitchen, if the stuff from the dispenser doesn't do it for you.
no subject
Wait, really?
[Where?
HAVE YOU BEEN HIDING IT AKIRA?????]
no subject
[NO??? HE DIDN'T EVEN STEAL IT THIS TIME]
no subject
[he has eyes that work sometimes!!!!!]

[huh!!]
Next time we have a free moment, I'll teach you how to brew your own mug. How's that?
no subject
Do you think they'd let me see how the machine works?
no subject
Do not touch the coffee machine.
[HE WILL COMMIT MURDER???? OVER THAT MACHINE???]
