That's just what happens with cultural differences. Don't beat yourself up.
Besides, that's not what I meant. You learned that through schooling, right?

Mmm. We didn't spend a lot of time on it, since it was English literature, but we touched on it in my English class.
[idk Japanese schools but that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it]

Hm. Both.
[both is good!]
We focus more on the language in school, but sometimes that draws us back to classical English literature. It all depend son the context.

[We are all speaking babelfish here so it's a legitimate question okay.]

Ah, no. Japanese is our native tongue.

Good to know being bilingual isn't too out of the norm, then.

They're preparing us for the real world.
[they might be wildly off topic, but Akira doesn't seem to mind. sometimes you just have to shoot the shit]
And it is until we reach about 18, though you have to pass certain tests before being promoted to the next level.
At 18 we take university entrance exams, which determine if we can pursue higher education or not.

[... why debt???
squints]
Geez.... what's the point of that kind of schooling if you have to go into debt? That's backwards.
I guess I shouldn't say that, though. I don't know much about it.
