[An easy laugh as he lowers his cup from his lips.]
Nah, nothing like that. I'm aligned under His Majesty Emperor Peony these days. But before that, I was a personal attendant for the only son of House Fabre for around 14 years. That's who I meant.
I'm pretty sure His Majesty would never let me live it down if I was to ever call him my charge.
I see... [ hmm. they really do have similar lives, don't they? though yin yu went from an emperor to a king, and nowadays, prefers one vastly to the other... it's all quite complicated, unfortunately.
he taps the edge of his cup. ] Fourteen years is some time. [ ....for a human being, anyway. ] Did you two grow together?
We did. I was four years his senior, so he was only three when I was employed by the manor. You watch a person change quite a bit in that kind of time.
[Not that that itself wasn't horribly complicated. But Luke's situation was hardly something he wanted to air out, especially right now.]
What about you? Your crimson king - how long have you been under his stay?
...It's been at least two centuries. I haven't really kept track. [ honestly, time didn't really matter that much once he started working for chengzhu. he had long since learned not to overthink the small blessings--he was quite lucky to still be alive, maybe. ] As for my lord's titles... he has many, so you may have to be more specific.
[ crimson rain sought flower??? ghost city master? "the scourge of heaven"? the ghost king? it goes on. ]
[ storytime!! he doesn't seem to mind talking when it comes to his lord. ] My master's moniker comes from what he is most well known for; he has made the sky rain with the blood of the enemies he has laid waste to, thus the 'crimson rain'. In the case of this particular story, Chengzhu had sought out the nest of another Calamity...well, a wrath level ghost simply known as the "Green Ghost" and annihilated it. As the crimson rain of blood began to fall on the field where the nest had been, Chengzhu spotted a single white flower among the carnage struggling to stay blooming. He stopped, and opened a paper umbrella to protect the white flower so it wasn't dirtied by a drop, staying there until the rain was complete.
Thus, his name - 'Crimson Rain Sought Flower', Xue Yu Tan Hua.

You won't believe me if I tell you, I don't think. Let's leave it at a very long time.

[your apparent age is on the cards, yin yu, it's fine]
Besides, I've been wanting to ask how metaphorical that title is. Now you've just got me even more curious.

Well, if we're talking that much time, then I can take some guesses for the Ghost King.
But you mentioned Crimson Rain Sought Flower before. Is there a story behind that?
