[He's stuck rattling his emotions somewhere between disappointed and exhausted. Why would she ever try something so stupid? If she truly cared, wouldn't she want them both to survive? Or...]
...
Maybe she assumes that Huaisang is suffering here. She was already tormented enough when he was under scrutiny. The thought of him alone and in pain must be much worse.
...
[He exhales, lifting a cloth from his belt to his nose at the feel of fresh blood, now an obnoxious old friend more than a concern.]
...Either way, there's nothing to be done about it right now. To probe Huaisang would only earn resentment, and to send false leads would only lead to more trouble.
If that were really the case - if she took someone's life and she wants to be executed... then either she's told others of her plan, or she set it up in a way where they have no choice but to discover her.
This place is going to compel her to defend herself. She's hardheaded, but not stupid.
I agree completely-- I think it's the act of recklessness that would make it difficult to miss. Or...alternatively, maybe she wouldn't want to be caught, because she wanted to be able to complete the required one killing a week, in case no one else did. That would certainly be hardheaded, but clever.
[ the 'sacrifice', like she said huasiang was making. hardheaded, but clever.
yin yu sighs. a hand comes up to rub between his eyebrows. ] ...speculation is useless, ultimately. And, if... if it was her, this week, then there was only one body. They have time to investigate.
[ compared to the shitshow that was last week, not that he knows, or the shitshow of the week beforehand. there's a lot unsaid there - that if it was beau, they would -- should maybe, be able to catch her. that he cares quite a bit for beau, because she was compassionate to him in a moment when he needed it. that he feels for her, that he felt her emotions in the last week, guilt and sorrow.
...their track record isn't great, though. ] There's little we can do on the other side but to watch.
Dimitri will arrive immediately after the execution, along with whoever survives the killing. Ideally, he'll remember what happened and be able to stay any wandering tempers towards the right things. If not, then...
Well. We only have so much time left to waste.
[And that's all he can say for that. Being angry was all he had asked for. But this went beyond that.
...
He takes a moment to look Yin-Yu over carefully, blue eyes tired.]
Are you worried about how the others at the camp will be taking this?
[ he'll catch the way something flickers across yin yu's face, though it's not for long. just like the week before, with the sharing of their emotions, he pushes it down, puts it away, and looks past the best he can. ]
...I am. [ he admits, though, so that's a start. ]
...Mm. Lili and Asch are the ones I'm most concerned about. They had a lot of faith in him [He already caught the footage of Asch destroying his desk one-handednin hot fury, which in itself was telling. But there had been someone with him, hadn't there?
Extremely. [ yin yu was there when flayn died on the island. he was there for dimitri's rage, that ultimately led to them completing their mission itself. the letter he received from him this week would have heartened him, had it not come after the announcement, because he knew that they would be taking care of each other. he knew that dimitri would be able to look out for her, to protect her, to be strong for her when she needed it. for lady flayn to lose him is...

[ again. ] There are only two of us remaining on the living side, now, and for her to be one of them is - I'm glad that she's safe, but that sort of suffering is too cruel.

[ guy catches on quickly, something that he's grateful for. ] She was doing better, towards the middle of the week. It may just be a hunch.
[ i'm being selfish. ] ...but my observations of others that closely are not often wrong.
